STEM Day at Westfield School

STEM Day at Westfield School

The girls in Year 4 and 5 were invited to Westfield School to listen to talks by the enigmatic Dr. Eleanor Starkey about sustainable ways to defend against floods as a result of Climate Change. The girls were also given the opportunity to hear from an electrical engineer from Northern Powergrid, who introduced them to careers in STEM. The Psychology workshop was fascinating and involved doing puzzles and challenges, which we found out involved using different parts of our brain. The finale was a Chemistry workshop, which went with a bang! The combustion of fine powder caused quite an explosion!
Thank you Westfield School for having us, it was such an insightful day.
