A trip to Hawkhirst Activity Centre

A trip to Hawkhirst Activity Centre

On Wednesday 13th September our students from Years 3, 4, and 5 embarked on an exciting residential trip to the scenic Hawkhirst Scouts Activity Centre located in the picturesque Keilder area. Our arrival was greeted with brilliant sunshine, setting the perfect tone for our adventure.

Upon reaching the centre, we swiftly unloaded the bus, savoured our delicious packed lunches, and settled comfortably into our accommodation. As the afternoon unfolded, our eager young adventurers eagerly plunged into their first series of activities. The lineup was diverse and included thrilling experiences such as zip-lining, abseiling, teamwork-based problem-solving challenges, crate stacking (for Year 3), raft building, bell boating, scaling Jacob's ladder, and conquering the nightline (Year 3).

Mornings commenced with mouthwatering breakfast options featuring bacon and egg sandwiches, as well as croissants and cereal. For lunch, we were treated to a delightful buffet affair where students could craft their custom sandwiches or opt for soup, sausage rolls, or pizza. Evening meals were equally satisfying, with choices like chicken burgers accompanied by chips and salad, or scrumptious pasta bolognese served with garlic bread and salad. Needless to say, our appetites were generously satisfied throughout our stay!

On Thursday evening we gathered around a cozy campfire for spirited singing. Following the campfire experience, we retreated to our accommodation for an enjoyable movie night.

With a heavy heart, we packed our belongings on Friday morning, concluding our thrilling adventure at the centre. After partaking in our final activities and a satisfying lunch, we bid farewell and began our journey back to school.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team of chaperones, including Mrs. Whittle, Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Weir, Mr. Hartley, and Miss Curran, for their unwavering care and supervision throughout our memorable excursion. Their commitment ensured that our students had a safe and unforgettable experience filled with fun and camaraderie.
