Physical Social Health Economics Education And SMSC
PSHEE and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education is an important subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work.
Here at Mowden, we promote spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical developments to all our pupils.
Our new and exciting Programme of Study aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team working and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: health and SMSC, relationships and living in the wider world (including economic wellbeing and aspects of careers education).
It has been created using the most recent government regulations, alongside the United Nations Convention on the ‘Rights of a Child’. The Convention applies to EVERY child without discrimination, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status. UNICEF works with schools across the UK to promote a rights-based approach. They share good practices in improving outcomes for children.
Therefore, Mowden community uses the 45 UNICEF Children’s rights to learn, teach, practice, respect, protect and promote all aspects of PSHEE+SMSC.
It is safe to say that PSHEE+SMSC is delivered to our pupils in an exciting, light, fun, interesting way that captivates and inspires many an in-depth debate or discussion!
