Mrs Solly took Year 4 out for a day exploring the Roman site at Vindolanda, where great discoveries have been made in recent months and years by the ever-present archaeologists. They visited the actual site being studied by the archaeologists and they looked round the now visible remains of the fort. They explored the museum and saw the reconstructed Roman shop and temple. After lunch, they walked up Steel Rigg and saw a milecastle, walking as far as Sycamore Gap.
