Visit to The National Glass Centre
Year One had an amazing day at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland. They studied the work of artists in the gallery, describing, sketching and giving their opinions. There was a big focus on symmetry in the classroom activities both with drawing tasks and when creating designs on hexagonal glass tiles. The children used glass pint pens to decorate their tiles. We enjoyed a delightful picnic lunch sat next to the River Wear and used the ruck sacks when enjoying the glass roof and views. We were especially fascinated by the glass blowing demonstration when the experts created a beautiful bowl.
