Sports Relief 2016 Round Up!

Sports Relief 2016 Challenge!

On Friday the 18th March we supported Sports Relief 2016, by running cycling and swimming our way from Mowden Hall School to Sauveterre in France. I am pleased to say we did it! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst raising money for a very important cause.

Their virtual journey started here at Mowden and led them along the coast to Dover, where they swam the Channel. After an exhausting swim they stopped off and admired Le Mont St Michel, and the D-Day Beaches. Heading inland, they spotted William the Conqueror’s castle at Falaise and the Bayeux Tapestry. Their cycle route continued to Poitiers, where the Black Prince won his battle against the French in the 100 years war.

As they moved southwards, they arrived in Dordogne country, with its forests, river and castles.
The countryside was hilly, giving the children a big challenge, but soon leveled out as they entered the Gers, the last stretch of the journey.
Finally they passed through Samatan, past the lake and Lombez Cathedral as they join the last road up to Sauveterre, nestled in the woods within sight of the Pyrenees on the horizon. They were very excited to be reunited with their peers in Sauveterre! After a phenomenal 1000 mile gruelling  journey the triathletes were triumphant!
Congratulations to all the children!
We are still collecting in the sponsorship money, please feel free to drop any contributions into the office or donate here online.
