On Tuesday, Years 2 and 3, Year 4 girls and some Year 4 boys went to Longridge Towers for a Cross-Country competition. We stopped for lunch in a lay-by near Haggerston Castle. There was a big dog that wanted our food, but we sent it away.

When we got to Longridge Towers, we went into a building and waited for the event to start. There were six schools taking part. A lady explained about what was going to happen and then we all warmed up together to music from Pop Party 3. A lady stood on the bank and showed us the movements. It was good fun.

Then the Year 2 race begun and our best runner, Joss Parker, finished in seventh place. Next was the Year 3 race. Richard Gaisford started very quickly. He looked like he was trying to catch the hare, but by the end he ran out of energy and a Longridge Towers boy overtook him. He finished in second place. Out of all the Year 3 girls, Ella Peel finished second so we got two medals in this race.

In the Year 4 race, the boys ran really well, with William Mason-Hornby, Patrick Kirkup and Lauri Mennala doing really well to come in fourth, fifth and sixth. However, our star runner, Harry Remnant led from start to finish getting our third medal of the day. Out of the girls, Indigo Mason-Hornby did the best coming fourth.

Overall everyone ran really well and we had a great day out. We would like to thank Mr. Lord for coaching us and Mrs. Kay, Miss Crooks and Fozzie for coming along and helping.
