Mowden Sevens Competition 2009

The Mowden 7's event took place on Saturday 14th March and saw sixteen teams compete for the Cup, Plate and 'coveted' Stottie trophies. This year we welcomed a team from Dublin making it a truly international tournament. The team was coached by Mr Henry Clesham an ex-teacher of Mowden Hall.

The competing teams were:

Mowden Hall, Merchiston, Durham School, Austin Friars, Harton School, Barnard Castle,
Newcastle RGS, Kings School, Newcastle School for Boys, St Olave's, Longridge Towers
Terrington Hall, Grindon Hall, Cundall Manor, Headfort School, St Martin's Ampleforth

The Stottie was won by Terrington this year, the Plate by Barnard Castle and the Main competition was won by St. Martin's Ampleforth after a thrilling final against Longridge Towers School from Berwickshire. The score was 31-21. This was the first time Longridge had attended the event and we hope to see them and the rest of the teams next year.
