Netball Match Reports - 2008-09
Under 11 A and B Netball team v RGS
On Monday 16th March the Under 11 A and B Netball team played RGS at home. The A team started off well by moving into space. We intercepted the ball and passed it down to Delilah and Hannah who were shooting. Between them they scored 4 goals. RGS got the ball down to their shooting circle but Scarlett jumped and intercepted it. In the second quarter we were all in one small space. Our passing had got worse although we got the ball down the court and into the circle for Samantha to score. Closely after, Scarlett scored one. In the third quarter, we spread out a bit more. RGS played well in this quarter so they scored a goal. Soon after, we passed the ball down the court for Verity to score a good goal. Jessica shot but unfortunately she missed. In the last quarter we played much better and Verity passed the ball to Hannah who passed it into the circle for Eliza to score. RGS had a throw in and they passed it to our shooters. Then Hannah and Eliza scored 5 goals between them. The final whistle blew and the score was 12-1 to Mowden. On behalf of the team I would like to thank Mrs Debil for coaching us, the kitchen ladies for lovely juicy oranges and the supporters for supporting us.

Under 9s High 5 Netball v Durham Choristers - Friday 13th March
Fiveyear 4 girls travelled to Durham Choristers for their first High Five Netball Match. It was a nice day and we played on the outdoor court. Having won the toss, Rebecca chose which end to shoot and the match began. Durham very quickly showed that they were a strong team with more experience than us. We found it hard to keep the ball in our possession and Choristers scored three times. The second quarter we played better and managed to keep the ball for longer but unfortunately, we did not score.
In the second and third quarter, the team tried very hard. Rebecca, Lucy and Poppy demonstrated some nice interceptions and their footwork and movement around the court showed much improvement. Sadly this was not enough to prevent the final score finishing at 8-0 to Durham Choristers. We have lots to learn and practise. The enjoyed a lovely match tea and then travelled back to Mowden.

Staff v. U13 Netball - Tuesday 24th March
We started off with some good passes but we were unable to score and we let them score 3 goals. In this quarter we played much better and scored 4 goals and with some good defending we only let them score 1 goal, unluckily Victoria had to go off because she injured herself. The half time whistle went and the score was 4 all.
We started the second half badly and were not passing well to each other so they managed to score 3 goals. The whistle blew for the last quarter and after we had swapped some positions we worked better as a team. We scored 3 goals and so did the staff. The final score was 10-7 to the staff.
On behalf of the team I would like to thank Mrs. Asker and Mrs. Debil for umpiring the match, the staff for playing and making the match so enjoyable and the whole school for giving us a lot of support.
