Under 13 Report

On Sunday the 3rd of October the Under 13 hockey team set of to the Loretto tournament. We had a brief warm up and then we were on to play Loretto. They had a strong side but we managed to keep them from scoring. With some good saves from Tara the score remained 0 - 0. After a long break, it was our turn to play Dunbar. They were not quite as strong as Loretto, as Lily managed to score a good goal for us, from the back of the D and then Rosie scored another great goal. The overall score was 2-0 to Mowden. Our play in this match was much stronger as we played better as a team. Our final match was against Kilgraston. They were by far the strongest team, but we held our ground and defended well with some excellent back up from Lily and great saves by Tara. But unfortunately Jess had to be taken off so we were one man down. They then scored a strong goal. The final score was 1-0 to Kilgraston. We went for lunch and came back to find that we had a bye through to the final of the Plate competition against Dunbar. We were quite confident, as we had played them before. We played well with a quick goal from Eliza and then another amazing goal by Samantha. This meant that Mowden had won the Plate Competition. We were pleased with this result but we have a lot to learn from it. Miss Holloway’s player of the match is Lily Hextall for never stopping running, scoring a great goal and always getting back to defend.
