U11 Hockey Match v Belhaven Hill
On Wednesday January 27th the U11 hockey team played Belhaven at home. We won the toss and chose first centre pass. We started off quite well by working as a team by passing the ball to each other. We got the ball down to their end and Samantha scored a lovely goal. We did some great passes and Delilah did some good play by saving shots by Belhaven. The half time whistle blew and the score was 1- 0.
We had an inspiring team talk and went back on determined to get more shots. We got the ball down to their end and by working together Eliza and Samantha scored a good goal. We did good defending by Verity and got the ball down to their end and Hannah and Eliza scored two good goals between them. The full time whistle blew and the final score was 3 -0. We were very pleased with this score and hope to win some more matches.
On behalf of the team I would like to thank, Mrs Pye for coaching us and umpiring the match, the spectators for supporting us and the kitchen ladies for a lovely team tea.

The U13 hockey team travelled to Durham School to take part in a tournament. There were eight teams split up into two groups of four. We were in league B. We had a tough first match against Durham High. Nothing was going right and we weren't working as a team and we lost 3-0. In the second match against St Martins we swapped Tilly for Francesca. We were a lot more confident and had a strong forward line and we scored two strong goals. The score was 2-0 to Mowden. The pressure was on because we needed at least two goals more than Dame Allans to stand a chance of going through to the semi finals. This was a fast game but fortunately Victoria was playing very well in goal and saved some good goals. In the end we won 2-0. Disappointingly Durham High and Dame Allans went through on goal difference from our league and Cundall Manor and Red House went through from league A. We were up against Durham School. We were now working well as a team running circles round them. This resulted to us winning 2-0. Next we played St Martins again to see who would come fifth and sixth. This time we beat them 3-0. Overall Dame Allans won and Durham High were the runners up. We had done very well only losing one match and we'd beat the winners. We then met up with the rugby boys and had a delicious BBQ. We would like to thank Mrs White for coaching us, the bus driver for driving us there and back and Durham School for hosting the tournament.

U13 mixed hockey v Longridge Towers - Tuesday 17th March
The U13 mixed hockey team travelled to Berwick to play Longridge Towers. We took first pass back and were a bit panicky to begin with crowding each other, but we began to relax and looked for the space. Longridge had a strong defence and we could not get through, this meant the ball was going back and forth up the pitch. Victoria got lots of play in goal and Andrew and Saskia managed to stop them from scoring and get it out to the wings. It was half time and the score was still 0-0. We reshuffled our forwards and were given tips for our defence. The second half began with everyone enthusiastic and determined to score. This half was difficult as the ball was moving quickly across the pitch. Angus McMillan got it up to Ffion who nearly scored but unfortunately was beaten by their sweeper. Both teams were getting tired and started to crowd the ball again but then the final whistle blew. The score was 0-0 and we were really pleased with ourselves. We would like to thank Mrs White for coaching us, Mrs Pye for umpiring the match and the spectators for supporting us.

U11 Hockey Tournament - Thursday 12th March
The U11 Hockey team set off for North Shields where our tournament was to be played. When we arrived we had lunch and then went to the astro pitches. There were ten other teams and they all were split into two sets.
We didn't play for the first match so we warmed up. Our first match was against Central High. We started well by passing the ball to Hannah who scored a nice goal. We went back and Eliza scored 3 goals altogether. Overall we won this match 4-0.
We went on to play our next match, which was against Church High. Verity did some good hits to Delilah and Hannah scored 2 goals. Shortly after Verity scored a goal right from the edge of the circle. We won this match 3 - 0. We had a break and Mrs Pye said we were played really well.
We went back onto the pitch to play Valley Gardens. We started off with them having first centre pass. We got possession and came down to their end for Samantha to score. We went back and Hannah scored four strong goals. They got possession but we got the ball back and Eliza scored three other good goals. Overall we did well with a score of 8 - 0 to Mowden. We had a break and went back on to play Tweedmouth. We started off strongly but they got possession and went down to our end. With some good defending by Delilah and Scarlett we got the ball away down to their end and Tarynn scored. During this game we did some sloppy passes and they got possession. The end of game whistle blew and the score was 1 - 0 to Mowden. We had won all of our matches so we were in the final. The final was against Longridge. This was going to be a tough match because we had both won all of our matches. The game started and Delilah did some good defending. Hannah had lots of shots at goal and even one hit the post and bounced off! We had a lot of short corners but we still didn't score. The whistle blew but the score was still 0 - 0. We had to have penalty shots. We won the toss and chose to go second to see what we had to beat. Emily saved the first shot very well. Then Hannah scored a goal against their goalie, which was a good start. But unfortunately Emily couldn't save the next shot but saved another good goal. Eliza scored as well but the end score was 4 - 2 to Longridge. This was a big disappointment but we did well as to get a firm second place. Throughout the whole tournament we didn't let a single goal in apart from the Penalty Shots, which was another great achievement. On behalf of the team I would like to thank, Mrs Pye for coaching us, driving us there and back and for umpiring some of the matches, and the kitchen ladies for a lovely packed lunch.

Under 11 Hockey Tournament at St Martins Ampleforth - Saturday 14th March
The under 11 Hockey team travelled to St Martins Ampleforth for a tournament. When we arrived we had our packed lunches and then went on to the pitches to warm up. Our first match was against Cundall Manor and with a good push back from Eliza, Hannah shot at goal and scored. The final score was 1-0 to Mowden. We then had a rest and then went back on to play Terrington. We kept our defence strong and they attacked at us hard but we managed to prevent them from scoring. The score was 0-0. Next we played the strongest team, which was St Martins Ampleforth. We found out that their forwards were very skilful and they scored 2 goals and won. We then played Bow and with a good play from Samantha up the right wing, she scored 3 goals. Then the whistle blew and the score was 5-0 to Mowden. Then we had a 45 minute rest and after we played Lyndhurst. Their forwards were very good shooters but with Emily stopping them well, the score was 0-0. Our last game was against Read. Both teams were equally matched so the score was 2-2. We had finished all our matches and then went to the presentation. We were called out that we came joint second with Cundall Manor and St Martins Ampleforth came first. On behalf of the team I would like to thank Mrs Pye and Mrs White for coaching us, the dinner ladies for a lovely packed lunch and the supporters for supporting us.
