U11 Hockey v Kings – 4th February
On Monday we went to Tynemouth to play Kings at hockey. We arrived a bit early and there was a lesson going on on their Astroturf, so we decided to go for a run around the football pitches while their coach went to get their team.
We had a little bit of a warm up on the Astroturf and then we started to play. We hadn’t played with each other as a team for the whole term so we were a bit rusty. We were not concentrating and Francesca couldn’t see so they scored. Shortly after, they scored another. After that we had a couple of good shots at their goal but their defence was too strong. The whistle blew for half time.
We had a swap around of the team, moving Honor to Right-wing and putting Philippa as sweeper. This turned out to be a good idea. We played harder, resulting in Alice scoring our first goal through the goalies legs. We had a strong defence with Francesca and Barley not letting them score any goals. Hannah scored our second which boosted our confidence as it made us level 2-2. Clemmie fought hard along their back line to score our third. Now we were really confident and started playing more as a team with Hannah scoring our last goal well from the edge of the circle and the supporters jumping two foot in the air! Mowden had won 4-2.
We had a biscuit and juice and set off for Mowden.
On behalf of the team I would like to thank Mrs. Pye for coaching us and driving us there and back and the supporters for supporting us.
