Dukes House

The Yr 3 class have studied the Victorians this term. We visited Dukes House to look at the architecture and discover some of the differences between the areas of the house lived in by the wealthy Victorian family and those areas inhabited by the servants of the house. We then drove on to Ruffside Hall where Mrs Cowie showed us their amazing collection of Victorian paintings. We saw paintings by Leader, La Thangue and Thorburn as well as other important artists who worked during the Victorian era. Thank you to Mrs Anderton and Mrs Cowie for sharing their beautiful homes with us.
