The Pre-Prep Department

The Pre-Prep department caters for the needs of 4 to 8 year old boys and girls and is situated in light and welcoming purpose built accommodation adjacent to the main school building. There is a warm family atmosphere in the department, with enthusiastic, fully-qualified teaching staff, supported by classroom assistants, who work together as a team. The children benefit hugely from the excellent staff/pupil ratio.

Whilst ensuring that the guidelines of the National Curriculum are followed, staff are able to provide a wider learning experience to include French, ICT, Art, Swimming, Drama and Music. Full use is made of the school's extensive and beautiful surroundings, where groups of children can, for example, be taken into the woods to study mini beasts, enjoy productions in the school theatre or play a game of rounders in the sunshine. Specialist facilities on site allow for a rounded curriculum, developing social, cultural and academic skills.

Children are welcomed into the Pre-Prep from 8am onwards. Daily assemblies take place at 8:45am, followed by lessons until 4pm. A wide variety of after school clubs are available throughout the year including football, swimming, outdoor adventure, tennis and music. We also offer a facility for children to be cared for in a homely, relaxed environment with a light tea, until 6pm.

The Pre-Prep department adopts an open door policy, encouraging involvement of parents in their children's life at the school. An afternoon each term is put aside for the children to share their achievements with parents in our Celebration of Work. Regular written reports are received and parent interviews take place in the Spring Term.
