    Newsreel Day - March 2010

This term 6W had a newsreel day when two professional filmmakers came in. The first thing they taught us was how to operate the camera, sounds and how to be the director. We were filming in two groups and one group filmed the others newsreel.

We had been working to prepare our newsreel for three weeks. We all wrote our own commentary and then one person edited them by putting the best bits from everyone’s commentary. We all had different jobs. Some people had to find sounds, some had to design logos and find props and costumes.

Our group’s newsreel was about aliens robbing Mowden. They were robbing the school so that they could make their planet more civilised. I was an alien.

I really enjoyed doing the newsreels because it was all very practical a chance to do very much of that at school. I especially enjoyed acting the newsreels and editing them at the end.
