The U 13 A and B Netball teams headed North on Friday 16th March, for the annual sports tour. On the way, we stopped at Willa’s house and had a delicious lunch – the perfect preparation for the games; and then headed to Fettes College for the first matches.
There was much excitement, and a few nerves ahead of the game, and after a quick warm up the matches began. Both teams played so well, against tough opposition, and the final results were in Mowden’s favour.
U 13A won 22-13
U 13B won 15-14.
Next stop was Perth, which would be our base for the following two nights. We had a super meal, and headed to bed as it was an early start against Craigclowan, on Saturday morning. Again, the matches were excellent and the girls played extremely well. Both teams won their games:
U 13A won 23-13
U 13B won 18-2
After a quick stop back at the hotel we headed to Perth for lunch, and a little bit of retail therapy. It was bitterly cold as we headed to our next game, at Ardvreck, in Crieff. This was a fixture for the U13B team, and the girls played well throughout, not letting the falling snow disrupt their game. The final result was 17-3, to Mowden.
Saturday evening’s entertainment was a cinema trip to see Peter Rabbit (highly recommended), and we had supper afterwards near the hotel. On Sunday morning, we had a slightly challenging drive to Glenalmond College due to the weather, but we made it and although tired, the girls played with determination and commitment throughout. It is a slightly intimidating prospect to play against older children, but the Mowden team kept their heads up and followed their game plan throughout.
The results were:
U13A won 21-8
U13B won 12-9
Both teams were unbeaten on tour; an outstanding achievement. In addition, the girls were fantastic company, and all the staff were incredibly proud of them. Well done!
Huge thanks to all of the parents who supported so brilliantly at each game, and also to Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Knight for accompanying the tour.
It was also lovely to see so many Old Mowdenians at Fettes and Glenalmond. Thank you for making the effort to come and see us.
