The children in Year 5 enjoyed visiting the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle last week which held a British Library exhibition with additional loans from the Victoria & Albert Museum. The Exhibition Alice in Wonderland delved into the world of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
The children enjoyed exploring the different ways generations of illustrators, artists, musicians, film makers and designers over the past 150 years have been inspired by the story of the girl who went ‘down the rabbit hole’.
The exhibition included illustrations and drawings celebrating Alice in Wonderland by Mervyn Peake, Ralph Steadman, Leonard Weisgard, Arthur Rackham, Peter Blake and Salvador Dali, which were a real treat for all to see in the flesh, so to speak.
