Rugby Achievement
Old Mowdenian Owen Vassallo, aged 14 has been awarded a place on the Falcons Academy.
Owen has done incredibly well to be included in the Falcons Academy, a representative opportunity that not many achieve. He will have access to real top level coaching, from James Ponton, Mark Laycock and their team, and as a result he will make excellent progress.
The focus of the academy is to develop players’ all round understanding of the game, rather than preparing them for matches, which helps them develop into the professional players of the future.
Mr Bailey commented, “Owen’s rugby career has gone from strength to strength. Fearless in any battle; his sheer determination, hunger for the game and unblemished commitment are characteristics that separate him from the crowd. Not only does Owen train with ferocious intensity, but he also plays with a passion that is eminently noticeable – and I am therefore thrilled, but not overly surprised, to see that his talent has now been recognised by the Newcastle Falcons Academy. “
