JOURNEY TO SAUVETERRE
On Friday we all met up at 7.15 and flew by plane to Heathrow. We had lunch at the Giraffe restaurant and played on the Playstation Island.
We arrived at Sauveterre in the evening. We had a nice supper and played outside.
SATURDAY
In the morning we went to the market to buy some strange objects.
In the market there were lots of good stalls. We all bought different things. I bought a mouse trap! Other people bought things like beetroot, a strange looking red pepper, a brush, and even some tooth brush holders.
We then had an Art lesson with Mademoiselle Rodriguez. She only spoke French to us. First we made tree shapes by blowing paint across our paper.
She gave us a picture of the Mona Lisa and we cut out the face and drew our own pictures around it of her body and the back, and some of the pictures were very funny.
After lunch we went to the bakery. Laurent, the baker, taught us in French how to prepare fruit tarts. We cut out the pastry and put it into trays. We squirted cream into them and put fruit on top. There was apple, pear, yellow plum (Mirabelle) and apricot.
We went next door to buy a sweet and a postcard from the lady in the newsagent shop, who asked us our names in French. Then we went to a café because we were thirsty. We had lemonade, strawberry and Coke.
We all wanted to spend pocket money so we went to the supermarket. Here we bought lots of Carambars. Tom bought a football, Charlie and Hayden bought hot-wheels cars.
After such a busy afternoon, we went for a swim in the swimming pool at Sauveterre. It was quite cold, but good fun.
In the evening we watched the first half of a film called Alvin and the Chipmunks in one of the classrooms. It was getting late so we watched the rest of it on Sunday evening.
SUNDAY
On Sunday morning, we had croissants and pain au chocolat and hot chocolate for breakfast.
We wrote our postcards and had an assembly where we did a show and tell for the things we bought at the market. Mr Spencer told us what the things were in French.
After play time, we went to Samatan beach. Here we had a picnic. We played beach volleyball. We swam and played in the lake. Some people found little crayfish in the water. It was great fun and the weather was lovely.
In the evening we played around the maze and enjoyed ourselves. We finished the film before bed. In the morning, we packed our bags and said "Au Revoir" to Mr Bailey and the Sauveterre people. Mr Stacchini and Mrs Bailey drove us to Toulouse airport to fly back to England.
We would like to thank Mrs Kay and Mr Spencer for taking us to Sauveterre and Mr Bailey and his staff for looking after us.
