Yr 6 expedition
On Friday 30th April the year 6s set out on their expedition. When we arrived we unpacked the trailer and put up the brand new tents. We then had chilli con-carne and rice for supper. later we played some games until it was dark and then had some cocoa and digestives and settled into our sleeping bags.
In the morning, we woke up at half past seven and had a delicious breakfast of cereal, bacon and sausages. We then set off to Kielder reservoir to do some orienteering. We were put into groups of two or three and given a map and a card. We were given one and a half hours to find twenty six checkpoints. The final winners were Harry, Mhairi and Lottie who completed the course in an incredible 39 minutes. We then went back to the minibus to eat our packed lunches. After lunch we went to explore the Minotaur Maze. Then we went to a viaduct to find a geo-cache but were unable to find it! We did see the beautiful ironwork designed by local schoolchildren though. We then headed back to camp. Halfway back we stopped for an ice-cream.When we arrived at camp we had a lovely barbeque and later in the evening we made a fire and told jokes, riddles and ghost stories. The scariest ghost story was a true story about a painter from the lake district. We then all went to bed (very scared!).
On Sunday we packed up the tents after breakfast and re-packed the trailer. We then went off to do three different activities: Pooh sticks with Mr. Kay, fire making with Mr Lord and how to make a stretcher and long skipping with Mr Hill. We would like to thank Mr Hill, Mr Lord, Mr and Mrs Kay and Miss Wallace for making this wonderful expedition possible.
