Year 6 camping!!! (rocked)
On Saturday 16th May, the 6th years went to the Morrison-Bell's land near Bellingham. When we arrived, after a fifty minute drive, we unpacked the trailer and were put into tent groups. We all put the tents up in about an hour and got our bags in just in time before the rain. Then we went on a long walk and did some search and rescue exercises. When we got back to the tent some boys and girls went down to the river to fish and paddle, then Sam caught a Rainbow trout and Mr. Hill named him Trout Boy. We had chicken curry for supper and then lit a bonfire by the river. Mrs. Kay told us some lateral thinking riddles and everyone told a joke. At 6.30 am some of the boys were noisy and Mr. Hill and Mr. Lord had to get up. They found Liam fully dressed with a fishing rod in his hand!
On Sunday we set off for Kielder Castle and were put in to groups for orienteering. We had an hour and a half to find twelve checkpoints. The winners were Remy, Ben B and Hector. After our pack lunches we all went shelter building in the forest. We were in 3 groups with a member of staff, Mr. Hill and Mr. Lord got quite competitive - the Ranger said that it was a draw. When we got back it started raining so we cooked the BBQ in the trailer. On the last day we played 'Poo' sticks down a little stream and the boys made a dam. Before we set off for Mowden, Hannah and Ben R gave Mr. and Mrs Morrison Bell some wine to thank them, while everyone else had a rounder's game. We all said goodbye to the Portaloos! We would like to thank Mr. Hill for organising the trip and Mr. Lord, Miss Morrisey and Mr. and Mrs. Kay for giving up their weekend for us.
