Year 4 trip to Talkin Tarn
On Monday, 15th June Year 4 went on a Biology field trip to
After that we went outside and split into two groups. Each group had to visit two different habitats: one was a meadow and the other was a wood. We had to collect as many insects as we could. We found most insects in the meadow. Poppy and Matthew found as bee but it was not at all happy being in the pot. The most popular insects were a damselfly, a chimney-sweep spider and a moth. In the woods we found a caterpillar but woodlice were the most frequent find under all the logs.
We had an eco-lunch by the tarn which means we had to sort and weigh the rubbish. We then returned to the classroom and had to think of a campaign to save insects from a place that was being demolished by builders. Martha and Sasha won with Spikey the Caterpillar.
After that we went back outside and played games where we had to make ourselves into bugs. That was the end of the day so we returned to school. On the way back it started to hail and we had to pull into a lay-by. Then it started to thunder and lightening so we sang songs to cover the noise.
We would like to thank Mrs Graham for organising the trip, Mrs Solly for driving us, Dave for making it such fun and the kitchen ladies for a tasty lunch.
