Mowden Hall Skiing trip to Austria
Well our skiing trip for 2008 is almost upon us! We leave
by coach for Manchester airport on Sunday 26th March. Our flights are
through Amsterdam and to Munich. There are 38 children coming on the
trip, with four Mowden staff and six parents too. Poor Camilla
Ferguson has a broken ankle after a netball tournament, which the girls
won! So, sadly for her, she cannot now go skiing.
The
village we are staying in is St.Michael, which is about an hour
south-east of Salzberg. Our hotel is the Ski Hotel Speiereck and we
will be the only group staying there. Have a look at the pictures of
the hotel. It looks great! The hotel is only a short walk to the first
skiing area with nursery slopes. A chairlift rises from here to the
Grosseck-Speiereck area and from there you can ski down into
Mauterndorf. I was able to check out the area during a very hectic
weekend in January to make sure that it was all safe for our party. Our
ski pass takes in Katschberg and Fanningberg and includes 190km of
piste so we will have plenty of runs to see. The resort has snow-making
facilities so there is always snow there. There are a full range of
runs to suit all levels of ability.
In
the evenings we will be busy too! We have a number of evening
activities booked such as swimming and an ice cream night. This will be
a fun packed week for the group. I can't wait!
