Mowden Hall Skiing trip to Austria - Diary
Day 1: Sunday 16th March
Hi everyone!
Well I finally managed to get onto the internet.
We all arrived safely in St Michael. Our hotel is great and the children are very happy in their rooms. It was a long journey though. Two flights and a coach trip from Munich.
Monday 17th March
We bowled in the evening and some did curling on concrete!!
Today it was snowing and the skiing was good with powder snow. All the children are now moving well on the snow and no one is struggling. Tonight we have curling and bowling again - the two groups will swap over. Tommorow we are going to Fanningburg, a different ski area which is supposed to be great for beginners.
Today is Wednesday and we skied at Fanningburg. Wow, what a resort! The weather was superb and the skiing was outstanding. All children are skiing well and really enjoying themselves. This is possibly the best skiing I have experienced for a number of years. Great for children with wide runs and a variety of runs. The instructors are called Ken, Jonny, Joe and a great Slovenian guy whose name escapes me right now!
In the evening we did a quiz prepared and delivered by Mr. Weldon. There were seven teams, six from the children and one parents team. A children's team won called 'Team People'. There were some top prizes for the winners from Playmobil to puzzles.
Day 5 - Thursday 20th March
"The people on the skiing trip have had a brilliant time and so have the staff and parents. I have got better and better at skiing and I have stopped falling over". Fancesca Davison
"I really like skiing and I really like our instructor, Joe". Liam Story
"I have been getting better at skiing and now know how to parallel turn". Harry Moat
"Skiing is really fun and is now my favourite sport". Harry Reed
The skiing today was good, but the weather in the morning was very cold and we took refuge in the restaurant. After some food and drink we all warmed up and went back on the slopes for a great afternoon as the weather improved. We were sad to leave Fanningburg as it was the best resort. We return to St Michael to ski tomorrow.
