Paris 2008

The 6th years going to Paris left at 8:00 on Thursday 22nd of May to go to catch a train from Newcastle to London. We arrived at London and got on the Eurostar to France. We arrived in a station called Gare du Nord. We got onto the metro and arrived at Jaures Metro station; and from there we walked 200 metres to our hotel where we got sorted out and went up to our rooms. We went to an Italian restaurant for the evening. Most people had a pizza. We had chocolate crepes for pudding. After the yummy supper we went for a walk along the canal St Martin.

On Friday we went to the Sacre-Coeur. Afterwards we walked round Montmartre which is an artist's market place. We had lunch then headed off for the Eiffel Tower. Everyone except for Barley and James, who stayed on the 2nd floor, went to the top and the view was amazing. Once we got down it was quite late so we had quite a late supper and an even later bedtime.

The next day we went locally into Paris. We walked to a supermarket called Monoprix. All of us bought Carambars. We dumped our shopping back at the hotel and then we walked to a huge park called Buttes Chaumont. There were lots of brides and grooms having their photos taken. We then went wandering round the park. There was a lake in the middle of the park. In the middle of the lake was an island with a stone building. Once you were up to the top, the view was amazing. Some people went off the get some food for the picnic. We had some baguettes sandwiches and some fruit. We went to see the Arc De Triomphe. We got to the top and looked at the museum part then went up to the open top part.  You could see for miles. When we got down we went to a very central part of Paris near a modern Arts Centre. We were allowed to go shopping for 45 minutes.

Half way through the weather changed and it rained very heavily we got back to our base and asked to go shopping for a little longer. We went to a Flunch restaurant. There was a huge buffet. Most people went for steak. We had a great night then we went on the metro back to the hotel. We got ready to watch the football Cup final - Lyon v Paris. The score was 1-0 to Lyon.

On Monday we were all woken up early by Mr. Fowlds, because we had to take the train to get to Park Asterix. It was also Alice's Birthday. We got to the underground and took the metro to Gare du Nord.

The metro was quite tightly packed so we had to push our way off the metro and on to another train. We had an hour sat on a train where a singer was entertaining us. We got off the train and waited for Mr. Debil to get the bus tickets. We had a twenty minute bus journey. The bus suddenly pulled up and the first thing we all saw was a huge sculpture of Asterix sat on a huge rock. We went through the ticket machine. We said our meeting place was next to the merry go round in a café. We all ran to the rides some on Zeus and some on the seven looper and the rest on water rides. We met at 12:30 where Mr Debil gave us ?10 for lunch. Afterwards we set off to go on more rides. Our next meeting was going to be at 3:00 to check that everyone was ok. Lots of people went back to one of the water rides which everyone had been on by the end of the day; this was really fun because there was a large drop at the end where you got soaked.

Everyone had a really god time, and at three o'clock, we all went back to the meeting place. Alice did not know that there would be a surprise party for her birthday. We had cake and Champomy. After we had the party we all had a bit more time to go on rides till six o'clock. It started raining which made it twice as fun. Six o'clock came quickly and we were all sad that we had to go. The journey come went quickly and we all had a nice shower in the hotel. Then we went back to our favourite restaurant. The day afterwards we went back to England. We were all very upset to go home because Paris had been so much fun. On behalf of all the 6th years who went, we would like to thank Mr Debil, Mr Fowlds, Mrs White and Miss Cashmore for organizing and taking us on such an amazing trip and for making it such fun.
