Brimham Rocks
On Sunday the 16th
of March, the remaining junior boarders travelled to Brimham Rocks, in Yorkshire. It was a 1½ hour journey. When we finally arrived, we got out of the minibus and
put on our helmets, and then we set off up to the toilets, which were quite a
long way away. On the way we explored the area and climbed on some small rocks
and went through tunnels. Then Les took us back down to the minibus and we
collected our lunch and took it lower down behind a big rock. When we had
finished, we packed the lunch away and set of through the woods climbing over
loads of rocks in our path.
Then we came to Lovers
Leap which was made up of lots of huge rocks. It is called Lovers Leap because
legend says that two people fell in love and were not allowed to be together. So
they jumped of the highest rock, Lovers Leap. Les said that whoever
got to the top of a slanted rock would get a prize. No one could do it but when
Mr Thomas encouraged Eliza to do it, she slipped back and hurt her ankle. Then
we went round Lovers Leap and up back to the minibus. On the way back we slid
down another slanted rock, and Rosie C.N. wore a hole in her tracksuit bottoms.
On behalf of the
children we would like to thank Les for organizing such an enjoyable trip and
driving the minibus, Mr Lord for taking all of the pictures and the Gappies for
accompanying us on the trip.
