Headmaster's Football Tournament
Sunday 28th February 2010
Four invited teams of adults assembled in their squad colours to battle not only against each other but against the sleet, wind and rain on Sunday afternoon. A collection of Old Boys, current staff, parents and friends of the above came together under the following team names: The Blue Whales, The Friday Club, The Border Reivers and The Charlton Athletes. Appointed to keep order and to guarantee fair play throughout the afternoon were referees Mr Hugo Remnant and Mr Toby Gibson.
In the first part of the afternoon, the teams played each other at the group stage. Winner and runners up went through to the Main Final and the 3rd and 4th teams went through to the Plate Final.
All four teams achieved at least one win during the afternoon. The Blue Whales faced the Charlton Athletes in the Main Final and the Fiday Club met the Border Reivers to play for the Plate.
In the end, the Blue Whales won the tournament, the Charlton Athletes came 2nd, The Border Reivers avenged themselves, despite their own depleted numbers, against the Friday club with a 1-0 victory in the Plate Final.
