Bake a Cake for Haiti
5S came up with the enterprising idea to help raise some money for the DEC appeal for funds to help with the Haiti earthquake appeal. They asked everyone in the school to go home at exeat and return with cakes or biscuits that were to be baked at home.
The response was magnificent. By 9.00am on Monday, the front hall and small dining room were completely overloaded with cakes, buns, biscuits, chocolate brownies etc which the children brought in to school with them.
Parents came and bought cakes after dropping their children off, the pre-prep and nursery all came and chose some cakes to buy in the morning and at morning break, the prep school children all came and queued up to buy some cakes. By the end of the day, nearly all the cakes had been sold and the princely sum of £863.71 had been raised. Well done to 5S, Mrs Sale and of course to all those fine Mowden bakers for their creations! Thanks also to everyone who came and bought cakes and to Matey Angela Brennan for her help with the sales. Delicious!
Cakes stall for Haiti
After we came back from Exeat, almost everybody came back with some cakes. There were cupcakes, chocolate cakes, orange cakes, jam cakes, lemon cakes, chocolate caramel shortbread, shortbread, cookies and Xavi’s eyeball cake! First we served the parents and then later on the Pre-Prep came. They brought lots of cakes. Not long after that, the Prep school came and they had lots of cakes. I think the best bit about it was eating the cakes!

Cake stall!!!
On
the first of February we all made an effort to put together an amazing cake
stall. I was absolutely blown away with how many cakes where there. I made some
Orange muffins, some Flapjacks and some Chocolate crispy cakes. Lots and lots
of people came to the cake stall to donate to Haiti. Altogether we donated a
huge number of £869.21. I was amazed and I hope it does make a difference to Haiti.
