A busy first weekend back
Inter House Swimming Gala
On Saturday afternoon, we held the annual Inter-House Swimming Gala in the Mowden indoor pool. It was a very exciting event, with all four houses taking an even share of the points in the five opening events. The balance started to shift towards Stephenson after the back stroke and breast stroke events, as they had exceptionally strong butterfly and front crawl swimmers. This also benefited them as the competition went on, as the relays enhanced these strong performances. In the end, the points for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places were very close, but Stephenson were the run-away winners.

Karaoke Calamity!
On Saturday, later in the afternoon, the boarders had a chance to show their karaoke singing skills in the “Karaoke Calamity” competition in the school theatre. To set the standard, or was it challenge to improve upon, Mr Weldon stepped boldly up onto the stage to perform “Bat out of Hell” by Meatloaf. This was not a shortened version, so nobody was in any doubt about how you have to keep going once you have started your song!
On Sunday afternoon, the boarders enjoyed the lovely weather on the school lawns, on the tennis courts and all around the school grounds. The GAP students entertained the younger children with games on the lawn and the top two year groups had an enjoyable tennis tournament on the courts.
