Egyptian Evening
On Saturday 10th March, after a tiring Mowden sevens tournament, all the boarders and the Beaudesert boys assembled in the decorated dining hall to begin Egyptian Night. We all sat down at the tables, which had Egyptian artefacts such as Sphinx on them. We ate to start with a selection of dips and pitta bread. For the main course we ate lamb stew and couscous along with spicy beef kebabs. For our Egyptian pudding we had some figs, dates and some oranges left over from the Mowden sevens. We were then allocated into groups and each group went to a different activity. Group 1 went to the magic carpet where you had to surf on the carpet; it was like a bucking bronco but standing up. Group 2 went off to the bouncy castle in the gym. The main objective was to build a human pyramid of ten people. Meanwhile group 3 were also in the gym; they were having a ‘Mummified Race’ across the gym. You were tied into pairs and if there was one rip in the toilet role you were disqualified. After all these activities we all reassembled for the finals of the magic carpet competition. The longest time to stay on, in the final, was a by Archie McAlpine who managed to achieve 59 seconds therefore he was the winner of the day.
On behalf of this fantastic and enjoyable evening we would like to thank the gap students for decorating and helping with the evening, to the kitchen ladies for a delicious Egyptian supper, and to Mr O’Sullivan for organising such an enjoyable evening.
