Carol Singing at Overstone

On Thursday 3rd December, a group of Year 6 singers went to sing Christmas carols and songs at Overstone Retirement Home in Hexham. We all entered the large house quietly and met the residents in their living room. They were looking forward to hearing our songs. Mr Fowlds accompanied us on the keyboard with some well known Christmas Carols, which the adults joined in with. Some of us sang a verse in small groups.
After a break, we sang some more modern songs, like Rudolph the "Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bell Rock", which were fun to sing. Afterwards, we were given mince pies and biscuits, while we talked to the residents, who were very friendly and kind. It was a very pleasant experience meeting the people at Overstone and a real pleasure to be able to entertain them with our singing. When we left, they kindly gave us each a box of Malteasers!
We would like to thank Mr Fowlds and Mr Spencer for taking us to Overstone.
