Mowden Goes Tribal - Saturday 21st March
Mowden Hall School was beset by tribal infighting. In the early afternoon, of what was to prove a tumultuous day, several tribes were seen to be preparing themselves for battle. Spears were sharpened, shields adorned and war paint liberally applied. To avoid mass bloodshed the tribal elders met and decided to settle their differences through a series of challenges which would decide, once and for all, the most cunning, strong and brave tribe in all of Mowden.
'Slingshot' provided a test of their skills using basic weaponry, several buffalo were eventually downed using no more than stones and an elastic string. This was followed by a test of strength and balance as the tribes had to carry their water back to camp - on their heads. Any spilt water could mean tribal members going thirsty. A test of their geographical knowledge of Africa followed before the lady folk, who had remained loyal to Mowden, satisfied everyone's hunger with a sumptuous feast of the best of African cuisine.
Hostilities had been put aside at last but, when the food ran out, it was clear that this was not to be a lasting peace. A solution had to be found. Shortly after supper each tribe could be seen doing their traditional war dances and chants. The only answer now was to settle this on the battlefield. Tribes bravely put forward warrior after warrior, many were defeated, but every man, woman and child held their head up high before a single tribe was left victorious. The frightening, nightmare inducing pillow fighting competition had, once again, proved which was the mightiest tribe in all of Mowden.
Global Tribal Chief, Ben Beardmore-Gray, released the following statement to the media this morning;
"A gloomy peace this morning with it brings
The children, for sorrow will not show their heads
Go hence to have more talk of these sad things
Some shall be pardoned and some punished
For never was a mutiny with more gall
Than that of tribal weekend at Mowden Hall."
