Hallowe'en Supper
On Friday 31st October, some strange looking and creepy apparitions entered the dining hall at 6.30, as Mowden boarders made their way to supper. Werewolves, vampires, screamers, ghosts and witches and their cats, and all kinds of ghastly characters took their places in the room. At one end of the room were boxes of pumpkins, which were handed out for the Great Pumpkin Lantern Carving event that took place after the meal. Simon Thomas directed operations and Lucy Cashmore was on hand to paint faces and play music as the children all carved away at the pumpkins in semi-darkness. As they were completed, each was allocated a tea-light and set up on the top table, where they made a magnificent glowing spectacle. There were some very inventive creations and the whole effect was magnificent.
