Indian Night - 19th January 2008

Our themed supper focused on India last Saturday night. To everyone's relief, the event did not coincide with the sick bug, and the Mowden kitchen ladies produced an exotic, varied and delicious array of Indian dishes, including dahl, biryani and halfa, to name but a few.

Preparations for the evening were greatly helped and enhanced by the involvement of Jyoti Ghura, mother of Simran in Year 2. Jyoti generously lent traditional saris and other clothing to the staff, as well as Bollywood music and a DVD which the Year 8s enjoyed after the feast. Although sadly a 'flu' bug prevented her family from attending, Jyoti's efforts to authenticate the evening were much appreciated.

The new Gap students threw themselves into the occasion, transforming the dining room into a bright and colourful venue, and entertained the children with a very informative quiz on India and its culture. Many of the children dressed up in fabulously vibrant saris and other more home-made efforts!
