Drama
Drama is an important part of life at Mowden. It is a timetabled lesson and its subject matter ranges from purely imaginative work, to supporting cross-curricular initiatives through presentations or performances on stage, notably French Day, Numeracy Day and the P.H.S.E. syllabus.
At Mowden, it is expected that every child will take part in at least one performance on the stage each year. The plays for performance again range from established texts to improvised work: during the current academic yearthe Year 8 scholars have presented Act I of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Year 8 children have taken part in a Christmas Pantomime and there have been musicals and poetry presentations lower down the school. The school has an impressive purpose-built theatre.
