Christmas Service

St James’ Church, Newton, Saturday 9 December 2017
Christmas Service
Linda Hunter officiated at our informal, family Christmas Service in St. James’ Church, newly adorned with a splendid Pompom Christmas tree (fast-becoming a Mowden trademark).  The sizeable congregation was treated to Nativity readings thoughtfully delivered by Katie and Reece, the Choir’s spirited rendition of two contrasting carols, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly and Following Along, prayers suitable for the season read by the children, and four well-loved congregational Carols.  Amidst the end of term festivities, the frantic present-buying and preparations for Christmas, it was good to have a brief period of stillness and reflection, and to be reminded, in Miss Hunter’s talk, of the most important gift of all.  Refreshments were served afterwards at the Headmaster’s house.

We were pleased to welcome Linda Hunter back for the annual visit of the Corbridge Crib in our assembly on Monday.
