With the plan to fit a new set of church bells in our own church in Newton in the not-too-distant future, Mr Bailey and some staff took a group to meet the bell-ringers at Hexham Abbey, The group clambered all the way up the very long spiral staircase to the bell-ringers’ belfry and were taken to see the actual bells tolling at the top of the tower.
