On Sunday 17th May, 8 pupils travelled to Belhaven to compete in a mixed doubles tournament. Each Mowden couple was put in a different pool to play other couples from Ardveck, Craigclowan and Belhaven. The top 2 from each pool played in the semi-finals of the main competition and the bottom two played in the plate semi-finals.
Susie and Richard played well winning their pool. Alice and Will also played well coming runners up in their pool (however beating the overall winners). Poppy and James worked very well together, easily winning their pool. All of these couples went through to the main draw. Sam and Connie came 3rd in their pool, meaning they went through to the plate competition.
Unfortunately, Poppy and James and Alice and Will were knocked out in the semi-finals and Connie and Sam made it to the quarter finals of the plate.
Susie and Richard battled their way to the final. It was a very tense match and they showed great teamwork but they unfortunately lost in a very close match to Ardveck 4-2.
Overall it was a really enjoyable day and each couple played very well together. We would like to thanks Mrs Pye and Miss Oswald for taking us.
