Year 6 Art Trip to Edinburgh
On Friday February 24th Year 6, Mrs Morrill and Miss Oswald left Mowden for Edinburgh. They visited the National Portrait Gallery first where a guide told them all about the BP Portrait exhibition which had travelled up from London. Following this the children enjoyed lunch and made their way to the Dean Galleries Modern One and Two. Walking between the galleries afforded the children the opportunity to see many famous sculptures including works by Anthony Gormley and Joan Miro. The afternoon was spent learning about Eduardo Paolozzi. They saw the inside of his studio and learned about ‘Vulcan’ and ‘The Master of the Universe’ before heading up to the studio for a hands on workshop building sculptures out of wood. Returning to school after a long day, the children tucked in to a big plate of sweet and sour chicken, rice and prawn crackers!
