On Wednesday, the first group set off to visit the traditional Gers farm, La Ferme des Balances at Seissan, where Patrick and Marie introduced them to a lovely selection of friendly animals. They started at the chicken run and fed the hungry “poules” and gave popcorn to some “chèvres” as well as to the noisy “Dindons!” They fed baby bunnies and learned how to “Traire les chèvres,” to milk the goats and feed their kids. Outside they met Gugus and Lily, les Cochons who let them scratch their backs and climb aboard their backs! They moved along to feed the geese, bravely entering their private area, calling out “J’ai pas peur des oies!” as the noisy birds ran at them flapping their wings and honking loudly! With a ride around the field in the trailer to feed the lambs, it was then time to say au revoir and return to Sauveterre.
